Oscar Isaac Reuniting with 'Ex Machina' Writer-Director for 'Annihilation'

March 30, 2016

Oscar Isaac will play Natalie Portman's husband in a new sci-fi film that is not a Star Wars, because THAT WOULD NOT MAKE SENSE CANONICALLY. The Tracking Board has revealed that Isaac has joined Annihilation, his Ex Machina writer-director Alex Garland's next film. Based on the novel of the same name--the first chapter of Jeff VanderMeer's The Southern Reach Trilogy--the film centers on a biologist (Natalie Portman) leading a four-person expedition into the uninhabited "Area X" as she searches for answers about the disappearance of her husband (Isaac). Jennifer Jason Leigh, Gina Rodriguez, and Tessa Thompson are already set to play the rest of Portman's crew. Good luck not getting annihilated, everyone.
