Well, as you probably could have guessed, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice made a ton of money over the weekend. Despite reviews as overwhelmingly dismal as the film itself, the superhero sequel debuted at over $170 million in the U.S. and $424 million worldwide. Domestically, and ordered by respectability, that's a new opening weekend record for: the month of March, for Warner Bros. as a studio, and for any critically sub-par movie in general. No film below 63% on RottenTomatoes has ever broken $150 million, and Batman v Superman just did it with a cool 29%. Well done?
Anyway, here's your weekend box office:
1. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - $170 million
2. Zootopia - $23.1 million
3. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 - $18.1 million
4. Miracles from Heaven - $9.5 million
4. The Divergent Series: Allegiant - $9.5 million
