Well, we now all have a little less time to eagerly anticipate and/or dread the new Blade Runner. Alcon Entertainment has announced that the sequel now has a release date of October 6, 2017, moved up from January 12, 2018, giving us three extra months to either enjoy the film or begin willfully forgetting its existence. As a reminder, Sicario's Denis Villeneuve and Roger Deakins are, respectively, signed on as director and cinematographer, Blade Runner writer Hampton Fancher worked on the script, Ryan Gosling is starring, and Harrison Ford will be returning as Rick Deckard, the robophobe who's always trying to cruelly out androids as if maybe he's got a little insecurity about himself, if you know what I mean. It's shaping up to maybe be really good, though it is just another belated sequel cashing in on brand recognition, so we'll see how it goes. In October. Of next year.
