New 'Nice Guys' Trailer Takes Gosling and Crowe's Buffoonery Full '70s

April 29, 2016

Perennial glowerers Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling have finally teamed up to turn them scowls upside down. The two play Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Lethal Weapon writer Shane Black's latest comic, crime-fighting duo in The Nice Guys. Gos plays a private investigator; Crowe plays the muscle that first roughs him up but later pairs with him to solve a case involving Kim Basinger, sex workers, and the mob pushing into Los Angeles. In other words, this is the film that answers the question, "What if L.A. Confidential were set in the '70s, had Gosling instead of Guy Pearce, and looked like a hell of a lot of fun?" Finally!

Here's latest trailer, which really leans into the '70s thing with retro voiceover and some old film effects. Don't let it fool you. You have not become a timecop.
