'Starman' Remake Coming from Shawn Levy

April 1, 2016

Playing a hilarious April Fool's prank on John Carpenter, the guy who made The Internship and the Night as the Museum franchise is going to direct a remake of Carpenter's 1984 sci-fi romance Starman. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shawn Levy has signed on lead this elaborate prank that will see him directing a new take on the story of an alien (originally Jeff Bridges) that crashes on Earth and, taking the form of a human woman's dead husband, goes on the run and falls in love. We can only hope that, in modernizing this tale, we don't lose the original's sense of being the E.T. fan-fic of a sad widow.
