Alpha! Bryan Cranston Will Play Zordon in 'Power Rangers'

June 22, 2016

In yet another case of a meth kingpin getting teenagers with attitude to do his dirty work for him, Bryan Cranston will play Zordon in the Power Rangers movie. The former Breaking Bad star confirmed as much on Twitter, saying he was "Excited to play #Zordon in the #PowerRangersMovie" for whatever reason.

Playing the creepy, adolescent-obsessed floating head is actually a cute bit of career symmetry for Cranston. Earlier in his career, he twice worked on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series, providing voices for the villains Twinman and Snizard. It's said that the Blue Ranger, Billy, was even given the last name "Cranston" in honor of the actor. Likewise, the character Eugene "Skull" Skullovitch's nickname was a tribute to Bryan Cranston's beautiful skull.

Power Rangers doesn't arrive until next March, but here's Cranston's earlier Mighty Morphin voice work to savor in the meantime:
